New MCN April 27: Why the Diavel smokes the lot

In this week's issue of MCN, on sale April 27 and guest edited by Suzi Perry, we pit the Ducati Diavel against a K1300R, Multistrada, Superduke and V-Rod Muscle in a world first group test. We test the best of the sports 125s and have more details on the next-generation R1200GS. We also have all the news from Brands Hatch BSB. Also in...

Reality

Haven't ridden a Diavel but I loved sitting on one at the local dealer and the looks are growing on me. Love the fact pporfirio is using one for commuting...good on you mate!

Scooters for real riders?!?!?!?! Now I've had scooters in the past (50cc two-stroke, bigger 250cc and tried a T-Max) and in their place they are fine but for my 45 mile commute to work I'll take a bigger bike (or the car if it's too grim) anytime.

I found it impossible to enjoy a scooter. It's like trying to love a washing machine. You like what they do when they wash clothes but you don't actually care how they do it.

Consumption

In town, i can get about 120 miles with a tank without using all the reserve.

When I did some riding at 70 miles an hour, I got similar consumption. I thik at 55mph you can get 150 miles on the tank.

The clock gives me average consumtion of about 10 miles/liter, but again that is eitheir in town (london heavy traffic) or at least 70mph on the highway.

but if you are looking at consumption, yes, you are probably much better off o a hornet. but saying that diavel is a bad bike just because of its looks is not rite. ride it and then have a proper opinion. it is a very very pleasant ride.
