Bike Reclaim Our Tracks is back!

A series of trackdays for road bikes only are starting on May 11 at Cadwell Park, for those riders who are intimidated by the thought of a normal trackday. The Reclaim Our Tracks days, invented last year by MCN's sister publication Bike, are a world that's free of race bikes and specialist track machines ridden by expert track riders. Reclaim our tracks?

Should be the other way round, 'track days' started as practise days for racers to go out and learn a new bike and get it set up, and practise new techniques etc, dont get me wrong, it is a good idea for road bike only days, but it should be given a different name.

What?

Track dyas were started by PB Mag as Frenzy's in the late eighties for road bike riders to be able to experince riding on the track

Trackdays then started to be organized by independent compaines such as Track Time promotions

There were very few if any racers on trackdays in the late eighties early nineties

Racers who want to practice had practice days such as Weds afternoons at Mallory

Racers (ex-racers and wannabe's who are too scared to actually go racing) have hi-jacked trackdays now and have spoilt them. What with their tyre warmers, slicks, full race engines, fancy suspesnsion etc etc

I reckon all trackdays so be for road legal bikes only, like they were invented for

No tax disc - no ride on a trackday
