Very sad news ....

We lost another last night.:upset:

RIP Tommy, who died last night on the Stockiemuir at the Queen's View bends. :upset:

Such a lovely guy. Some of the Scottish crew on here will remember him from when he joined us on the Sunday run to Crieff at the start of last month.

Thoughts and condolences go to his family and especially his wife.

RIP Tommy

Montanes

Thanks for the details regarding Saturday.

As mentioned above, unfortunately I can't attend as I am away with my partner and her family at her brother's wedding this weekend....but I have passed the details on to the guys at The Carbeth.

Montanes: No need to apologise

I was with Tommy when he died the other night in the most tragic of circumstances.
Without going in to too much detail here, it was almost inexplicable how it could have happened.
I can tell you it was over in seconds, he never knew a thing.
I am convinced he was gone before he came to rest no matter what the ambulance crew said.
We worked on him despite this.

Please pass on my condolences to his wife Tracy.

You have no need to apologise, your grief is apparent and it is only natural to lash out!
I would be the same.
Ignore that fool who critised you, he obviously does not know when to just say nothing.

It is a waste of a life no matter what anyone says.
But I can tell you that what Thomas gained through biking is beyond measure and explanation.
Through this selfish pursuit he gained an army of friends far wider than he would have otherwise done.
I know this because it is the same for me.
They will always remember him, fact.

There are many ifs and buts about last Thursday.
If he had just gone home.
If we had stayed at the Carbeth.
What do they matter now.

The truth is we all to varying degrees enjoy the thrill of riding.
Read into that what you will.
Thomas was a proficient and careful rider he was not a hooligan. I rode with him on a few occasions some alone, just he and I and he did not do anything to alarm me.
I do not know if this makes it better or worse but his wife should know he was not taking risks when it happened.
I am devastated, yet he was on the outskirts of our band having just rejoined the group.
But that is what biking is about, the camaraderie, whether you are the fastest or the slowest does not matter you just have to be accepted and he was accepted by us all.
All that matters is that he is one of us.

I will be at the funeral on Saturday paying my respects I will probably go by car to avoid upsetting anyone.

Now lets not have any more rants from people feeling they need to defend biking.
You and your family deserve some peace and quiet.

John, - Well said mate.

Hope you guys are bearing up ok. I know from personal experience, (a few years ago), that it may take a while to come to terms with the events you witnessed last Thursday.
