Catalunya MotoGP: Rivals surprised by Dani Pedrosa withdrawal

Dani Pedrosa’s late withdrawal from his home race in Catalunya was a big surprise for his MotoGP rivals. Repsol Honda team-mate Casey Stoner and factory Ducati rider Valentino Rossi both said they expected the Spaniard to declare himself fit to ride after he broke his right collarbone in Le Mans last month. Pedrosa’s latest cruel injury blow came after he was involved...

He knows he's better off waiting until he's fully fit, why take unnecessary risks?

Quotable Quotes

Not bad stuff from his main rivals. I wonder if it is worth him trying to ride at Silverstone, be silly to suffer more mischief especially after last years Brit GP. Beaten up again! ***** I reckon they really only came out with this sentiment as they know Dani is one of only four essential parts of the show. Great to have him racing as long as he is fourth or at least behind me (thinks all of them)! Get well soon Dani, Moto GP needs you...... and anyone else who can show up with a bike to bolster the grid.

Dani would walk Moto2 and win it by a country mile.

and now it looks like Colin is doubtful for the race - two riders out ...

Elbowz and CosherB

Agree with you both, great archive quote Elbowz.... respeck! It is lookin' grim out there on the grid aye race fans? Hopefully they can get through tomorrow without losing anyone else. Don't need a repeat of Laguna 1990; 11 or 12 starters and only 10 finishers! 88 Laguna was about the same....... I don't think they had changed to this point system yet though. Can anyone help out with the year they went to 25/20/16? ***** With the Moto GP grid this week I am still backing a revision to the points system. Either a floating only finishers in the top 50% at best or just the top 10 at worst. The old F1 top six to score would be a bit extreme I think most would agree.

Now with Colin out,  how many will start on the grid? Unless they out in some wildcards, it's going to look like a sparse

Sorry Andy

Your crunch is probably the farthest two wheeled machine on the planet from being a prototype. How many millions of those things are tearing up the tarmac worldwide? Sorry must be a prototype although you are well under the 800cc capacity limit!
