Ducati 1199 ... Are They Sure Its A V-Twin?

Have I missed something with the new Ducati?

1199cc engine, first of all...

a) they already have a 1199 engine (albiet in 90' not 65'ish like seen so far)

b) This bike is clearly going to be made to compete in both GP & WSBK ... MotoGP has a 1000cc capacity limit next year (doesnt it)

c) surely a 65' V-twin is dead in the water next to a 65' V4...

Is it actually a 1000cc V4??? at 65' to mimic the aprilia???

They'd be fools to redo a V-Twin surely. and maybe the name is because they already have done the 999 as a bike.... :hmmm:

Ducati moto gp bike will be a v4 1000.The rule change is to allow heavily modified superbike engined(gsxr etc) specials similar to the moto 2 set up.At the moment the bikes have to be prototypes so all engines are specifically designed for moto gp and therefore more expensive. All bikes will be restricted in bore size (81mm I think) so the ''factory'' teams shouldn't be way more powerful. This is how I understand it anyway.Should mean more bikes on the grid hopefully.:smile

I hadn't seen the rule change for protatype engines, about time though, may get some privateers out there.

I suggested this on a forum I used to use, they all shot me down saying it would never happen bla bla bla.........may just pop back and see what they think about it now.......
