Video: BMW K1600GTL speed testing

We investigate 8 things that you never knew about the BMW K1600GTL in this week's MCN. One of those things is that the big Bavarian tourer is bloody fast. The K1600GTL does 137.62mph. We know - we measured it. Which may not be that impressive in itself but is a darn sight better than its only credible close rival, Honda's 200cc...

At sea level standard conditions, that's around Mach 1.8. The coppers won't even hear it coming.

not so supersonic...

MCN have now corrected their typographical error, so the era of the supersonic motorbike has come to a close. Probably a good idea... the kinetic heating on the riders face and hands would have been a little severe (temperature would have reached 200 degrees C), but then again you wouldn't need those heated grips.

Nice

But surely of more significance is the high-gear roll-on potential? If you're going to ride a supercharged sofa, one simply wants to stick it in one gear and parade all day. Although I can hear the point in revving the tits off this particular armchair... Mmmmmm!

What a pointless exercise, dressed up like a power ranger to ride a TOURING bike to see how fast it goes..... FFS...Grow up and show SOME responsibility.... stick to the racing circut if you want to encourage riders to ride bikes like hooligans...
