FTR confirms MotoGP expansion plan

British chassis specialists FTR has confirmed it is working on a new project for the 1000cc MotoGP world championship in 2012. The Buckingham-based company is working on a chassis for the Spanish-based BQR squad, which was one of six teams recently awarded a place on the 2012 grid. The BQR project will feature a highly tuned Kawasaki ZX-10R motor and FTR Moto...

Good news...

For the grid numbers but i do wonder if this is just going to add to the back markers and not add much to the racing at the pointy end? It would be nice to see these bikes challenging for wins but i just can't see it!... Maybe i should just be happy that there will be more bikes lining up next year?!

Also, It's nice to see a British firm adding something to the sport we all love!

Strange that none of these frame builders like FTR and Suter are using an Aprillia engine? Clearly it is reliable and fast as hell. As shown by there WSBK factory team. Maybe Aprillia don't want their brand name on bikes that will run at the wrong end of the field? Highly tuned screamer inline 4's won,t cut it in GP's. I hope i am wrong, but these bikes won't be competative at all. Escpecially as al the bes't riders will be on factory bikes. Casey and J-lo will not be happy when 1 of these back markers will accidently get in the way:-)

You should applaud the possibility of back markers. They may have ruined a few races but they also have brought many a runaway leader back into range at the end of a race. A back marker certainly spiced up the BSS race at Knockhill last weekend. Just like the two stroke days of old some back markers will be a welcome addition to GP's. Well as long as they are not as bad as Michael Rudroff of taking out Wayne Gardener at P.I. fame. Was it twice in practice and then lapped 2 or 3 times in the race. Once blocking Gardener and then colliding with Sarron. 89 Philip Island I believe, easily one of the best races ever. Watch this one or Philip Island 2000 and you will never mention that boring lame ass Laguna 08 ever again!

EVO?

They could run the new bikes in their own class like the EVO's in BSB if they are well off the pace... then slap Alex Lowes on one i say...! :)

During the WSBK coverage

on Italian TV a repfrom BMW noted thier engines will certainly be used by third parties in MotoGP next year before BMW themselves offcially enter in 2013.

I agree with you tho Mr T - it will add depth to the grid, andif they can recruit good riders it will add texture to an otherwise dull palette of Yamaha, Honda and Ducati colours...

I Concur Carlos

Casey may have to wear padded gloves and boots the way he punches and kicks out at baulkers.... ;D ***** All the top riders will be upset (as would I) when a back marker gets in their way. You may be surprised at how many more come out of the woodwork apart from Casey and Jorge. RDP looks like he could pack a punch! (snigger)

I agree. Let's just hope for some close racing 2012.

Shouldn't the last paragraph read: Bones added - Captain if we can just reverse the thrust rockets we may just have enough energy to power the proton phasers Or is that just me showing my age?
