Honda progress exposed Ducati weakness, says Valentino Rossi

Valentino Rossi reckons the performance improvements made by Honda in 2011 worsened the extent of the problems experienced by Ducati this season. Rossi has struggled to make any significant progress with Ducati’s GP11 machine and in a bid to improve his results, the Bologna factory rolled out a brand new bike called the GP11.1 for last weekend’s Assen round in Holland. The...

Lets hope

Ducati have the time this weekend to find a good set up with the new bike.
If the temperature is higher than last weekend which it should be then maybe that will help to get the bike up to speed at least for Mugello.
Would it not be nice to see 3 Italians on the podium!!!
Unlikely I know but not impossible!
SuperSic has to get right soon and what a place to start.
Lets also hope Pedrosa has a good weekend.

Noshow - Rossi tested the chassis with a 1000cc motor in it, not the 800cc therefore keeping within the rules of testing.

ThePornstar - Lucky git!! Wanted to go this year but i have a baby due any day so i had to scrap that idea.... How inconsiderate hey! I think Rossi will win and Simo will be a close second... Well, i hope so anyway! Have a good one fella!

Hey there! It feels great to be posting on here! I'm a fan of Rossi and will always be wherever he goes! Hope he can challenge for the win this week-end and give stoner a run for his money(moaning) lol. People are are arguing testing is forbidden on this years bike but it's not for next years bike. There's nothing in the rule for bike running in both years would be classified except the engines are different and hence totally different bike according to the actual rules despite using same parts. It will be very hot at mugello(29degrees all 3days) and hopefully Rossi and ducati can put some heat in that front tire to improve the feeling of the gp11.1

I'd agree that the Honda has improved but so has the Yamaha equally*... it's Ducati's improvements that are not suiting their riders. Let's hope they can get it together for Mugello.

* Ben & Simo... similar experience, same number of DNF's. Ben on 61 points, Simo on 39. Jorge & Dovi... both similar experience on their machines. Jorge on 108 Dovi on 99... similar gap in performance to last year.

but

But it was reported that it was still the 1000cc engine but reduced to 800cc this can be done by changing the con rods?

... & last year they had Rossi, Stoner & Pedrosa in between 'em... Dani's out, Stoner's up front & Rossi's struggling... look at the qualifying times... they're improving by roughly the same amount.

Noshow,it's not the length of the conrods,it's the throw of the crankshaft. That is,the distance the piston goes up and down.
