Bird box disguised as a speed camera

A pensioner in Somerset has become so fed up with speeding road users breaking the 30mph limit through his village that he built a bird box in the shape of a speed camera and put it up outside his house. Ian Magee lives in Willerton, Somerset and spent a week building a wooden bird box as an exact replica of a...

Yes to live in such a nice part of the country un-touched by reality, riots or social experiments and being retired must make him angry at people who go past his chosen abode faster than a speeding slug, the poor man.

bird box

this idiot needs to get out more or stay in more and fester what a nob the box is hanging OVER the pavement therefor it is deemed to be on council land the council should remove it at the earliest convenience and charge this fool at cost with a warning

Perspective

The guy probably is a bit of a tool with too much time on his hands but like hairy muppet says we shouldn't need to be told not to ride like dicks through built up areas.

“We also feel the box should be taken down as it is providing unnecessary clutter to the area."

hahahahahahahahahaha

Can we use that reason to remove all the other useless scamera's around the country

Planning permission for a bird box? And yet the mosques that spring up everywhere don't seem to need any? You just couldn't make it up could you!!

I guess the council is just peeved because they couldn't afford a real camera!! And all those who slag off speed cameras, I live in Market Rasen, on the same road as Willingham woods, 80 MPH seems the norm for some bikers, in a 30 zone, but it's ok, I'll just stay indoors and lock my kids up because god forbid I ruined YOUR fun!

Slow down FFS and then a) You wouldn't need to worry about cameras and b) they'll get rid of them if no-one speeds in the first place!!

There is a time and place and it isn't in a town or city!

Er.. Perhaps a little less xenophobia??

What have Mosques (which DO require PP) got to do with anything?

Actually you CAN make it up (and IMO the Mail frequently does!)

But as others have said if we treated the areas where others live with some respect perhaps this guy wouldn’t resort to such tactics (Its only a short step to the Clarkson “string a wire across the road” brigade)

Back to point,

At least its a bird box pretending to be a camera, and not the other way round. (Camera pretending to be a bird box)

...The point where you stop learning, and think you know it all, is the point when you become dangerous. Until then your just a hazard to yourself and others...

Double-edged whotsit innit?

Trust me, better there were 10 old gimmers putting up yellow birdboxes than some old incontinent with an actual camera.

In Bedfordshire the new Chief of the Old Bill has *recruited* pensioned off nosy do gooders as DIY vigilantes to sit there at the road side with a tripod mounted camera, a big board which flashes up speed and a patronising :)   : (  face  and a penicl and an old envelope or something so they can write down reg numbers as a prelude to getting *A STIFF LETTER* and an asbo or something if you're clocked again.

No due process.

No right of appeal.

No wonder the Gov are keen to get rid of the Human Rights Act

He's also commissioned a £100K+ upgrade to 4 camera vans.

Burglaries and serious assaults are really close to going off the graph according to their own statistics ...

but thankfully new Cheif Old Bill knows where the real threat to society lies and he's after them.  Apparantly its easier to tell who they are because they go over some arbitarly slow speed limit.

They also show up well as successul prosecutions or some offcial smoke and mirrors thing too.
