Speedo

Hi guys, this is probably a really silly question but here goes lol.

Im fairly new to biking but im not sure if my speedo is reading right so does anyone knew where I can get it checked/calibrated in the Coventry area.

What makes me think its not right is I was following a lorry down the motorway and speedo was reading just over 70mph when most lorrys are restricted to 56mph.

Like I sais it might just be me not being used to speed on a bike bike.

Cheers Mick

Speedos

Most speedos over estimate your speed, have you got a sat nav?.If so, then on a flat road it will give you a closer speed reading than your speedo.Lorries on the other hand are are a law unto themselves.

As preunit says, a SatNav would be a good way of checking your speedo.  However, was this a foreign truck or a UK registered vehicle?  Regardless of what the Law may say do not for a moment believe that all foreign-registered trucks are restricted to 56mph.

speedo

Cheers guys. I checked it with my Satnav and at low speed its about 10mph off ie bike clock reads 40 mph satnav reads 28mph and at high speed it gets worse bike clock reads 110mph satnav reads 88mph.

Is there anything I can do to re calibrate speedo

sprockets

what size are you running, and are they oe sized? if your speedo is gear box driven and you've changed the size of sprocket then this will alter your reading.

May be worth investing in a speedo healer, as some speedos can read + 10% more than actuale speed, add in a gear ratio change then it could be as much as +15-20% inaccuracy.
