Just thought I'd try your statement sustituting Stoner & Honda for Rossi & Ducati...
"Before Stoner & his crew got their hands on the 800 Honda it had won countless championships, and was so rider freindly everyone that jumped on it was an instant winner, riders became overnight heros and nobody ever fell off, the thing was so stable!! These two losers want to retire and let someone else have a go... what do they know about bikes between them they have no proven track record!!!!!! No-one has won ONE championship on it and no-one ever falls off ... - the only modification I would recommend would be a gravel deflector and some crash bungs!!!"
Let's compare the Honda 800 which has never won a championship to the Ducati 800 which has.
2007 Ducati ST 4 DNFs : Repsol Honda 6 DNFs
2008 Ducati ST 3 DNFs : Repsol Honda 3+ DNFs
2009 Ducati CF 3 DNFs : Repsol Honda 6 DNFs
2010 Ducati CF 8 DNFs : Repsol Honda 5 DNFs
Ducati 800 18 DNFs : Repsol Honda 800 20 DNFs (& that's being kind to Honda... I couldn't be arsed to look at their DNSs but included Stoner's on the Duc)
... & they say the CF Ducati was a crap package... Stoner's climbed on a bike that's never won an 800 championship & has as many DNFs as the CF Ducati (more times overall) & is turning it into a winner!... Rossi's climbed on a bike that's had the same number of crashes as the championship leading bike (far less if you look at this year's stats & include a certain rider) & is going nowhere.
I hold my hands up... they're real statistics but they don't tell the whole truth... interesting all the same... I just posted them to prove that using Stoner's performance on the Ducati to excuse Rossi's poor performance this year doesn't work... please don't respond as though I believe them.
