Disability forces Toseland’s racing retirement

Double World Superbike Champion, James Toseland is retiring from professional motorcycle racing with immediate effect following a visit to Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Mike Hayton, yesterday. The visit confirmed Toseland’s worst fears that the damage sustained to his right wrist during a testing crash at Aragon earlier this year is irreparable and no amount of physiotherapy can repair the injury. The crash...

Well the above is really crap news. He was a very very quick rider and even did well at Moto GP level. 31 is just to young IMO.

Really sad news that James has been forced to retire.I've followed his career thru it's triumphs & tribulations & he's the best rider Britains produced in the last 15 yrs.If he'd been Spanish he'd have had a real chance in Moto GP,but as he isn't he was never given the backing from the organisers that he deserved & was treated very unfairly.WSB titles don't grow on trees & he was top dog in that class,so remember that when all the detractors pour their scorn on him.See ya mate,we'll miss you.

Sad day

With the "you're only as good as your last race" mentality, it's easy to forget how good this guy is.

CB500 junior cup - embarassingly winning nearly every race, so they moved him up into the proper class, and he won it! (ISTR). Fantastic work ethic on his way up, whatever he was given to ride. Twice he proved himself to be The Best in The World!  Lovely bloke, to boot.

Enjoy your retirement from the sport, JT, and thanks for many wonderful moments along the way (I'll never forget Laconi & Tardozzi's faces!.....shock & awe ;-)

Will be missed

So sad to hear injury forces JT's retirement. He was a true gentleman and never whined or moaned even though the last few years did not go well for him. In my opinion a true champion on and off the track.

I hope you can stay around the paddocks in some capacity JT. All the best.
