Phillip Island back on winter testing schedule?

Phillip Island could make a surprise return to the MotoGP winter testing schedule in 2012. Plans are under discussion to let factory teams like Marlboro Ducati, Repsol Honda and Yamaha test at the Australian venue, as well as the traditional two Sepang test sessions in Malaysia. Nine-times world champion Valentino Rossi criticised the testing restrictions recently when he said the current time...

An increased reduction in testing to a look at increasing testing? In a week? The people at Dorna will get dizzy with all this spinning around. Bridgestone have a point but I don't think the tyre supplier should be dictating the structure of the season too much. I bet Michelin or Pirelli would be interested in knowing what Phillip Island could throw up data wise during a couple of days testing during the Australian summer.

Get rid of bridgstone and replace with another manufacturer when contract is up if they going to moan about supplying more tyres andd why not have 2 lots of testing at Phillip Island to do comparison tests of updates. Also each round where they have 2 weeks minimum off after race day, why not let all teams if they wish to stay an extra 1 or 2 days for testing. Bikes and riders already at circuit so no extra shipping costs. This is meant to be pinnacle of bike racing, let them test more with the riders that are gonna race the bikes.

Practice makes perfect

The more testing, the more the CRT bikes will have an opportunity to get closer to the Factory and Satellite bikes. New riders to the 1000cc era  will have more saddle time to get acclimated.

Ducati will not be able to complain about being limited in development to test their bikes, so will the others too.

That'll be cold.
