Bradley Smith confirms Yamaha MotoGP deal

Bradley Smith has confirmed he will move to the MotoGP world championship in 2013 having signed a long-term deal with the Tech 3 squad, as was first reported by MCN yesterday. Smith inked a three-year deal with the French outfit during last weekend’s Motorland Aragon race and he will stay with Tech 3 in Moto2 next year. He will then switch...

Wise move indeed.

Another wise move, for Scott Redding would be to follow Brad for the first 18 laps, then gun it and have his tyres trashed when crossing the finish line in the lead! His current strategy of ripping his tyres up whilst running at the front for the first half of the race clearly doesn`t work. Anyway. Well done Brad. Milkybars, you seem like a thoroughly unpleasant person.

Nice one

That's really good news. For too long the focus for Brit riders was WSB but with the new breed coming through GP's we will have riders who will be real challengers in motogp.

Hail Milkybars, king of the forum wankers, I have heard some tosh talked on these forums but no-one even comes close to you, verbal diarrhea par excellence. Did you go to a special school to learn how to do it?

Job security

No way of knowing how good a Tech 3 bike will be in 2013, so as I see it the major benefit of this deal is that he can sit back and know he's got a confirmed ride for the next two years.

IMO he should get his MotoGP rookie year done on a one year deal with Tech 3 next year in the first year of the new regulations then see where the team/bike is at before looking at negotiating a ride for 2013.

I think that to turn down an offer of a Tech 3 MotoGP ride for 2012 just shows lack of ambition.

To continue in Moto2 on a Tech3 next year reinforces that.

has a very valid point there. Next season the Tech3 1000 will be a lot closer to the factory bike than it will be in 2013 where it will remain unchanged while the factory bike will have gone forward.

Miklybars, apart from his language, also has a valid point about brits being signed to Tech3 in order to have a brit on the grid just for marketing purposes. Personally I think that Scott Reding would suit a 1000 cc bike better than the little Moto2 thingy he's on now. He's a big lad and muscle's and slides it around a bit, could suit those hard bridgestones better than those Dunlops..

Not a good move imo......

....2013 is a long long way off and a lot can happen during that time.  Suppose BS wins the Moto2 title next year or is runner up and suddenly everybody wants him...he'll be gutted if he's riding a Tech3 bike when he could be on the best factory stuff!  Along shot i know but a possibility!
