Valentino Rossi to test deltabox aluminium frame

Valentino Rossi will test a conventional deltabox aluminium chassis on Ducati’s factory GP12 machine in Jerez later this week after the Italian’s woeful 2011 continued at the Motorland Aragon. The new frame is similar to the concept used by Ducati’s Japanese rivals and it is the latest in a long line of radical changes introduced to give Rossi a bike he...

8 testing days for 2012

and they have used up 6 already. No real improvement it seems either or a solid direction to follow.

How many test days have Honda had ? 2 isit, Jerez and Brno ? they will have 6 more days during the winter and it seems Rossi and Hayden will be doing f-all. I think they should have tested more in the off season, as they are probably distracted looking for solutions to this year also.

to be polite, it looks like they are royally fucked for next year.

rossi

aint it funny, rossi is having one bad season in motogp in his fairytale career and all of a sudden he is pish? whats happening to mr schumacher then? my gran could beat him on a skateboard, and yes I do have the brain capacity of a goldfish and really think he is crap. (sorry but im wiser than that) To me it only shows that nomatter how good you are, unless u have the right equipment for yourself, ur not going to be at the front and could end up being the forgoton hero. for ducati, they never new they had a problem that bad, and neither did most of us, all of rossis yamaha career i used to fear that big angry desmo, but now we realise its not ducati we should fear its stoner. unfortunate for ducati stoner masked really how bad they were, think back to the last race of 2006 (valencia) ducati 1st and 2nd? then onto 2007 the year of the stoner, there package was great, about a million more horses, all the jap factories were rushing out pnumatic valved engines to bridge the power gap, and then there was the bridgestone tyre advantage, this was the same season we actually saw suzukis, and kawasakis running near the front when everyone on michelin were struggling. now we have a level playing feild with tyres and ducati have now got slower every year and they seem to be the ones chasing everybody. id imagine if vespa were in motogp, ducati might be looking to them for ideas just now. rossi i really have faith in you to turn things around, some say rome wasnt built in a day, i say bologna didnt fix it overnight!!! go rossi, show the haters why your the goat!!!!

What's next on the agenda for change? An in-line 4 motor????????????? Rossi is digging an even bigger hole for himself to get out of when it unfolds that this new, twin spar aluminiumm frame makes no difference!! What's he going too do then?? Ciao

Eh?

"Valentino ready to change riding position if necessary"

... so 12 months after Ducati made set-up changes that turned it from a podium/crasher to a race winner for Stoner they've suddenly thought "hey, let's set it up for Rossi rather than Stoner"?... words fail me!

Deltabox

I bet Yamaha are pissing themselves laughing ,Ducati making a yamaha-esque frame . Are Ducati loosing their ethos, there very own philosophy of being unique and slightly off the wall?

Ally to work - eventually

The delta box frame is where they've been heading all year - it's just that Duke wanted to hang on to their unique marketing tool, the carbon frame, as long as possible. Presumably it's written into Rossi's contract that (unlike with Stoner) they have to give him what he wants, and it's probable that he's already screaming for a deltabox for this year as well. There is nothing unusual about Duke's development programme, just look at the number of frames and ancillaries Honda threw at their 800 to bring it to where it is today. Not that Ducati have those sorts of resources - they have to just sort of muddle along and make modifications where they can, and, perhaps eventually arrive at one new frame concept. The ally version of the carbon frame seems to have been a stop-gap to prove (to Rossi?) that a mere change of material is not what's needed. Most of the anoraks agree that the s/arm pivot needs to migrate from the engine cases to the frame, the engine mounted arm being a rigid, but now outdated, form of fixing. Of course, while you're building such a frame you might just as well make it an ally job, as seems to be best practice. I think the deltabox with s/arm  will be a great advance, and we could see an improvement in the racing should the Dukes begin to fight for podiums (it seems too late now for wins!).

i think Ducati should continue to develope the CB frame for the future while they hopefully get some results out of the Alloy version in the mean time.. Having a Desmo and an Aprillia RSV4 Factory i must say that the Desmo is 100% more difficult to ride fast at track days and totally draining . i can ride my Rsv4 at a way quicker pace all day and it's so much fun were the Desmo is alot of work. Love both bikes but the Desmo is deffinately a hard animal to tame. Bike just really aggresive, motor, brakes and overall character...

Seriously ...

For the life of me I can't understand why some people hate Rossi, or any other racer. What's not to like? I can understand someone having a racing hero - but why hate the others? No one is perfect and we all have our shameful moments so why expect anything different from these young men?

I cheer for Spies but I also hope all the other racers get the machine and opportunity to showcase their talent. If Spies wins that is great, but if he muffs it like he did last weekend I still root for him. Truly, what would I gain by down grading the other fine warriors. Sure, Stoner is a bit immature or eccentric but big deal. I have my own "issues" to deal with.

How about you?
