Hi Al.. iv got a bmw f800gs, 2008 model, 13,000 miles, it had bmw service in april, but is now going in for another service this week for valve clearance, iv had a new problem the last two weeks, that when i turn key in ignation nothing happens, instrument pannel not lighting up, iv found however if i keep flicking key in ignition barrel after 10 to sometime 20 goes it will eventually light up the instument pannel, or what some guys call the HMI, human machine interface, anyone got any iteas, the key for my bike is suppose to av a chip which co-insides with barrel, i try my spare key but still no joy, any whizz gus out there??

It could be

just in need of a little lubrication down the key slot itslef. Such as a few squirts of WD40 or similar. However,if it's going in for a service, have the guys check it out for any corrosion at the terminals.
