Brands Hatch BSB: Hill takes championship in photo finish

Tommy Hill has won the 2011 British Superbike championship after beating John Hopkins in the final race of the season by six thousandths of a second. With just two points separating the pair going into the race, each rider knew all he had to do wrap up the title was finish ahead of the other. Hill was stuck behind Hopkins for the majority of the race...

Absolutely EPIC race!!! You have to love BSB its been such a tight season and for it all to come down to a front wheel at 130mph over the finish line shows testament to the close racing that we have been gifted with.

How ironic that Tommy got the better over Hopper on the final bend where Jonesy lost his life, and then to dedicate the championship to him was a fitting tribute.

Will be interesting to see what doors open now for the top riders from this championship, but if a few of them can stay for next season, ill be a very excited fan.

How much fun can you have on two wheels.......... id say a hell of alot!!!

Well done guys and thanks for the entertainment!!!!

Shakey

Shakey showed who the true champ was on Sunday.

If it wasn't for the daft rules to try and get  fans through the turnstiles at the end of the season Shakey would have won yet again.

Hill was acting like a "knob" when he was moaning about John Kirkham racing with him in the first race.

Of course he was trying to take points off you you retard he was John Hopkins "Team" mate.

Shame about race 2

Isn't this story missing the fact the only reason Hill had a chance was his Suzuki let him down in race two?

true champion

Pity mr ellision deliberately heldi hopper and the rest of the field back for most of the race and as soon as tommy hill was behind him he moved over going into paddock hill bend and let hill past again trying to hold hopper up,

as for shakey showing who should have been champ isnt it irronic that the fastest man at brands all weekend sat behind his teamate for most of the last race at times looking as if he was touring round,

Shakey true champ

Shakey owned brands that weekend, its a shame the showdown wasn't between him and hopper then we would have had the two best riders and who ever won would have deserved it, and I'm sure hopper would have rather been beat by shakey? this Tommy (ATTITUDE PROBLEM HILL) got very lucky the weekend we all know deep down if hoppers bike hadn't have cut out in race two he would have cleaned up!!! Hopper grab that LCR Honda ride now dovi's gone to tech3, the Suzuki wont have a hope in hell!!!!!!!!!!!!

grow up guys

can't believe people are dissing Tommy Hill over winning the championship...

Championships are won & lost over a season...

Last year Tommy was robbed by mechanical failure & Kiyo committed daylight robbery by stealing the title he did not deserve (based on a seasons results).

Another classic Championship saw Hodgson & Walker head to head with the stalker losing the title when his bike blew up... My favourite bit of that season was their actual wildcard rides in the WSB, where they scared the WSB boys, including Nitro Nori half to death!

I would have been happy to see Tommy, Shakey or Hopper crowned.

Thank you BSB

What a cracking series BSB and the supporting programme have given us this year, competitive racing and series finale that MotoGP would die for.  The expressions on teh losing riders faces in in their voices just show how much it meant to them all.  Thank you to everyone involved roll on 2012

What a cracking season...thanks Hopper

Hopper set this season on fire. Shame he was robbed by electrical gremlins but him and Hill gave it their all in the last lap that decided the Championship.

Motogp is now the least interesting series on the planet, lol. Can't see Stoner ever rubbing paint on the last lap to win a Championship.
