2012 Yamaha R1 - first impressions

We're in Spain riding the 2012 Yamaha R1 at the Valencia MotoGP circuit. Aside from a few very minor tweaks the main change to the Yamaha is its new six-stage traction control. We've just done our first session and the TC is on max. It's so intrusive you can hold the throttle to the stop out of every corner, not good for...

Traction Control

Only good for trackdays in my opinion. The japanese yen is going to murder japanese bike prices again maybe ?

Hang on a second

Yamaha decides to put traction control on the R1 as the only change on bike that has been around for a few years. Did they not think making it look a bit less ugly and cost less might actually encourage people to buy one?

You buy the least ugly one, that'll be the one that makes you puke least ;-)

Or you could buy the one you can afford

Or you could just buy the one you like and tell everyone else to f**k off

Personally I'd go for "C"

ha ha

yeah defo a touch of star wars about him. Although I think he looks a bit more like something out of Thunderbirds.

Little known fact that Australian TV presenter and wildlife fanatic Steve Irwin was a huge fan of the Gerry Anderson shows. In an interview he was quoted as saying "Thunderbirds was a huge favourite of mine, but there'll always be a special place in my heart for Stingray"

Spot on observation! LOL Judging by your avatar, you didn't have to dive too deep into your imagination pool.

I was just thinking...

My 30 odd years of riding using nothing but good old brains is rapidly being made redundent by Traction control with SIX settings. Any body see where I'm going with this????
