I GOT IT

Well I just picked up my new bike. Bit embarrassed to say as I didn't have the Ninja long.

Ah got meeself a Harley Sportster 883 Nightster and I'm so happy. I wish  i'd listened to my heart all along and not been influenced by that salesman.
Everyone told me you don't want a Harley. They don't go around corners and they're slow but you know what, I couldn't care less, even though I think they are wrong. I never smiled this much when I got the Ninja. Lesson learned.
Always follow your own desires, not someone else's.

congrats

on the new bike...

I went against advice and bought the bike I wanted...a 1988 cbr 400 and i love it...my mum aint so happy that i went for my original choice of bike that had she let me get one I'd have had lol

Problem is she's not behaved so far and cost me an extra £200, a 2 hour wait for breakdown truck and several "i told you so's" off my kid bro but all things considered I'm a very happy bunny

Good for you, sadly there are too many Harley haters out there and sadder still, most hate because they're sheep and following the herd, (the group they've gotten with slag harleys, ergo, harleys are crap.
I know several people who slat them and haven't been within a few feet of one, let alone ridden one.
Main thing is you're riding for yourself, thats what bike riding is about to me, what makes you smile not what peer pressure says you should ride.
My current fave is my ex MOD Armstrong, (HD), MT500, single cylinder 500, not fast, not pretty but it's bags of fun and serioulsy rugged.

I've been within a few feet of them and felt the Earth move beneath my feet ...and thought thank f**8 I'm not going home on that. But Hey Ho! each to their own.

Precisely, each to their own.
Never had one myself, (yet), well, theres my HD Armstrong, (mine was at the crossover point when HD had bought the rights to manufacture but strictly not a proper HD)
But the big difference is i'm open to them.
I know several people who haven't been anywhere near who will slate them up and down hill BECAUSE they are a Harley and therefore an unwieldy tractor that won't handle because they've heard and learnt this by rote.
People STILL say that all Italian bikes have dodgy electrics, 'oooh, wouldn't touch one of them, first time it rains' etc
when was the last time this was true?
All Hondas have exceptional build quality!
Every RD you'll ever see has been thrashed into seizure
Dogs can't look up, (Shaun of the dead)

Apparently Ford Escorts are famously good, that x-flow engine is great, (I had one, the engine was rough as, well, a Harley, :), it wasn't great but hey, maybe that was just me )

But anyway, you see what I mean

Good For You

Girlaloud, and well done for going against the grain.

I'm sorry you lost money on your Ninja, assuming you did but we've all done that at some stage.

I'd hate to tot up all the money I've lost on bikes over the years.

You will learn that there is a lot of blinkered prejudice towards Harleys, but it has to be said, that there are a lot of blinkered prejudice Harley owners.

Don't become one of those.
