Sepang MotoGP: Ben Spies withdraws after double crash

Battered and bruised Ben Spies has withdrawn from tomorrow’s Malaysian Grand Prix, just hours after vowing to ride through the pain barrier in Sepang. The Texan has struggled with a major rib injury he picked up in a massive qualifying crash at Phillip Island a week ago that forced the 2009 World Superbike champion to sit out the Australian round. Spies had...

dissappointing, yes.. but many other storylines to follow

As much as it upsets me that no factory yamaha will be on the grid (please don't mention the test rider), there are a few intriguing battles to watch. - hope for a good battle between dani and stoner. Dani seems to have the pace this weekend, so hopefully stoner can fight with him all the way to the end. - expect another dovi and simo fight to the death. - will alvaro finally be able to keep the thing upright and finish in the top 6 - expect to see hayden start fast, and fade. - expect to see rossi fight with aoyama, alvaro, edwards, and hayden. Hopefully, he doesn't bin it again for the 3rd race in a row. - will cal be able to put in a good solid top 10 ride? Enjoy the races..

I aplogise.

For my earlier comment and I've always stated rider safety comes first read my other posts and you'll see it on the Spies matter obviously its disappointing but understand why.

Hopefully CE delivers a good race and gives Yamaha something to cheer about considering whats happened in the past few weeks.

Seriously GYTR,

sometimes you post like a 14 year old teenage girl...

Even if Ben had not withdrawn the TV director would have shown him for 20 seconds combined over the entire race.

It sucks he can't take part. But that's life. Better than falling again and breaking something else.

The race is still on and some guys have things to prove. Nicky could make it 2 podiums this season which he never achieved with Ducati before. Or Colin could score the first satellite podium since Ben did last year.

Even if you can't be arsed to get up for it at least don't post and have the troll armada piss on Ben thanks to your comments.

chelsea elbowz, you have no class.  frankly, Spies can do without so called 'fans' like you.  call yourself a MotoGP supporter?  well you've blown that illusion into the weeds all on your own pal.  does anything exist for you outside the world of Yamaha?

i think the prevailing reflections of other posts on here tell you that you've a lot to learn .... show some respect for the 16 guys who will be laying it all on the line later.  and the other 70 in the support classes.  unreal.

Sad about Spies missing out again. But whats even more depressing is seeing so many post about this guy called "elbows" or GYTR. Best chance now for all 3 Repsol riders to be on the podium. Stoner 1st, Dovi 2nd, and Ped 3rd. But then this is coming from a Stoner Fan. :). In all honesty, Pedrosa will win this by miles, with Dovi 2nd and Sic 3rd. Think the heat will be too much for the newly crown champ. Much like what he suffered in San Marino, and to certain extent, in Mugello. Will be interesting to see how Rossi goes. As we all know, come race day, he will finish 5th, 6th or 7th. But reckon he could be a threat for a podium. Ducati runs well at Sepang. Can't wait.....
