Casey Stoner happy to silence Rossi and Burgess criticism

Casey Stoner has said his domination of the 2011 MotoGP world championship was made sweeter after the criticism he faced from Valentino Rossi and Jerry Burgess when he was riding for Ducati. Stoner won 10 races last season to clinch his second MotoGP world title as he delivered Honda’s first premier class world title since 2006. While the 26-year-old was enjoying unrivalled...

sorry mate

joking aside, the four  year period covering Stoners Ducati time and Rossi's yamaha time on the 800's is nigh on identical, Stoner 23 wins 1 title rossi 21 wins 2 titles outright speed against racecraft could have easily been the other way round

2011 Rossi cant get on with the frameless bike, dont bet on him doing better on a bike thats more familar to him.

FA Cups was purely a reference due to 'jamies' football example.

The stats re-the 800's are clearly in Stoners favour.  Due to the bike he spent most of the time riding then these figures are even more impressive. We can sit here for weeks/months (oops, we already have!) comparing this/that/and the other but the fact is Stoners results would have easily surpassed what exists had he been aboard a Yam or Honda!

Don't you mean bet against...

It's interesting that just because they are going to what appears to be the new bike with perimiter frame (and maybe new V4) everyone makes the assumption he will go well as it is a design he is familiar with.

What people are overlooking, or at least, not mentioning, is just because it now has a perimiter frame, it doesn't mean it will be an effective bike. There have been plenty of perimiter framed bikes that haven't been competitive - Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda and Yamaha have all had them.

The design still needs to be right, whatever the frame configuration or construction.

It's going to be interesting to see what Ducati come up with and watching it unfold.

First off, United are better. No question about it :)

Wosi :  Not only was he not better than Rossi, he finished behind Pedrosa and Lorenzo too.
Yeah, these 2 riders are known 'aliens'. Despite the crashes and problems with the bike he was never beaten by the 'second group' of Dovi, Simoncelli and Spies. Something Rossi achieved(or didn't achieve) to do this year. He also finished just 7 points ahead of Hayden with only 139 points. 86 points less than Stoner's minimum in a season, that's 3 race wins and a 5th place finish in terms of results, or 2nd x4 and a 10th place finish. Stoner also finished with a minimum of 62 points between himself an Hayden.

All i know is this, the bike was a proven winner in the hands of Stoner. Not good enough or consistent enough to deliver him a 2nd title but it was still proven it could win races. When Rossi comes along, things don't just get worse. They get embarassing. On only 2/3 tracks is Rossi comparably faster than Stoner(despite trying to twist the stats Wosi). The bike looks as if it powered by a gaint battery above the exhaust pipe.

Assen 'The carbon fibre is the problem, it is too stiff and gives me no feel'
Aragon 'The carbon fibre was not the problem. It is the same'

Do people also still believe Rossi is a development genius ? you all heard it from the man himself.

jeez this off season is taking a long time. For the record, i do want Rossi to come back at the top, but i wanted him to do it on a typical Ducati, a beast. Having to ride it like it's stolen every lap. If he does come good, it will be on something like a Yamaha, but with the Ducati badge.

not sure thats fair pacey bud

Casey started the 800 period of the dominant bike and who the championship, the following year Rossi and yamaha fought back and there wasnt much between them 6 to 9 in Rossi's favour.

From 2009 imo the CF kept casey out of the running to two years and total derailed Rossi this year.

its an if i know But i do believe if Rossi had still been on the yamaha, the figures in terms of wins would be alot closer overall (maybe i have too much faith in him).

Im slowly warming to the idea Stoner has the best ability to feel what a bike is doing with how well he did on the CF, but the other aliens on a framed by will give him a good race.

Roll on sepang Bud
