What bike for touring ?

I'm intending to travel around the UK & Europe a bit.
I am converting a mwb van to a camper but want to take a bike with me inside the van.
I'm looking for something small & light (as space inside the van is at a premium) but able to keep up with motorway traffic.
Oh & I don't want to spend much!
Any ideas gratefully received.

If you're taking a bike in a van

the last thing you are going to do is ride on motorways.

Consider what you'll be using the bike for, and how far from the van you will be riding it. Will you be riding one up or two up?

If its just for exploring places that you stop, how about a C90 or similar?

As above really; you could consider a super scoot for versatility, but for Spain and parts of Itally I'd take  a trailie, assuming you don't want to be two up with luggage
