Classic Bike Insurance

How old does a bike have to be to qualify for classic bike insurance?  I am wondering if my 1998 VFR qualifies now that it is 13-years old.

Don`t know really,i`ve heard 20year min, also a bike no longer made. Also it cannot be your mainly used motorbike to qualify.

A few of my old mates insure a classic to get really cheap ins for their modern bikes.

no old enough

for classic insurance i'm afraid as the bike needs to be registered before and up to 1982,but some insurers run a modern classic schemes for bike registered between 1983-98 iirc, so might be worth a few phone calls.

Maybe try Footman James or other such insurers that specialising in this type of insurance.

Good luck.

Classic Bike Insurance.

MM, I used to insure my 97 RRV Fireblade with Carole Nash on a modern classic insurance policy. Although this was just over 3 years ago. Chances are that this policy is still available.

Classic Insurance

Thanks guys.  At the moment it is on a combined policy with my FZS1000 and, if it did qualify, it might give me the option of seperate cover.  Not that there is any particular reason for splitting them, it's just nice to know what the options are.

Oh well...... only another 7 years to wait.

Classic insurance

Got my old Powervalve insured as a 'classic', even though it's with my regular insurer (Suzuki insurance).  Cost £100/year - can't really complain about that.
