water in the oil?

i wonder if you can help. I bought my yamaha diversion 600 s in November 2011. Now that the weather has turned colder I am getting a leak from the breather hose that comes from the air box. It looks like a creamy mix of oil and water. I have cleaned the air box but the oil/water continues to leak. The bike is a T reg 1999 and to be honest i am not sure of the service history. Its a standard bike with no mods.I have a new air filter oil filter and oil to do a small service but dont want to do it until i solve this problem. have you any suggestions?

Thanking you in advance

water in oil,

Does your bike have an oil cooler radiator ?

Are you just starting the bike and running it for 5 minutes?

Could be the oil level too high,

Could be cheap oil in it ( I recommend Silkolene 10/40 super4 for bikes)

Could be incorrect valve clearances

What ever all the breather hoses will have to be cleaned out before the oil&filter change,

At worst it could be worn piston rings causing blow/by

producing too much crankcase pressure, a compression test will show this.
