MV Agusta F3 first ride: "tiny, loud and angry"

MCN's senior road tester Michael Neeves is in the south of France for the official launch of the new 675cc MV Agusta F3. It's a critical bike for MV – because it's relatively affordable (at £9999 it's in the same ball-park as rivals) and it could open up a whole new market to them. But, clearly, it has to work. Unfortunately, the...

where we go riding mate . Thats my whole point ,Hardly a commuter is it. Even  out the mountains you would have to flog to get some sort of performance out of it. Any way horses for courses as they say. There was an article in MCN some time ago , when joe blogs got on a GS 500 and rode it around much faster and easier than his new R6 , He may not have looked so good in the window but he looked a hell of a lot better rider.  . bike too focussed for prob more than half the people owning it , the ones that  that have just had that whole new market opened up to them. Yes we ride in all weather tho, be 25 by 6 in the morning but we,ll have to put up with it.

Skoda cars? They don't actually exist any more. The reason they're so good now is because they are VWs and have been for a number of years. The fact is, any Italian machine, whether it be a car or bike, is unreliable.

As for tiny, lound and angry, so is a wasp, and who wants them!?

The report limited as it is, is only one person's view. My brother has been riding an F4 for over two years, no problems whatsoever. So that is why I going for the F3. Remember a wasp has a sting in the tail, I just cannot wait

chriswren and blue200tdi - i assume that you've never owned an italian bike, as you clearly don't know about the massive strides that have been made over the years with build quality and reliability.  so time to open your eyes and wake up to the reality that it's now 2012 ....

no need mate !!

Hi Brutale r. First of all,I agree with a lot of what you say about various bikes all having their particular problems ..and the fact that most bikes these days are pretty damn reliable compared to times of old. However in having a go a others who may be criticising the new MV...which no-one has properly tested yet.you have fallen into the same kind of prejudice that you are accusing them of !! Calling people idiots and knobs and then slagging off Triumph owners in particular,is also blind prejudice, against bikers you do not know..It just ends up in a slanging match. Many people are turning away from the '600' class nowadays, and are becoming tired of having to wring the necks off bikes to get anywhere, that's why the 600 class is suffering at the moment..all manufacturers are feeling this effect. Many people who are going to have a go at the new Mv,will also not like any modern 600,because of the power characteristics...so don't have a go at one group of people, when trying to defend your chosen marque..which is fine by most people,I should imagine. The more choice the better,as far as I can see,It will be interesting to see how the 'new' bike performs in a full test and many people will love the MV... no doubt! ..anyway ride safe and enjoy your new MV if you get one.

Excellent posting 955nsim, for each to their own. I have been riding a Daytona 675SE (pleasure only) for last 15 months and have covered over 8000 miles, added a quick shifter and arrow exhaust, cannot fault it ( previous bike Fireblade) But I decided to try the MV, it may be better it may be not as good, only time will tell. If it is not what I expect at least I will be able to comment from experience

@pottersbar yes, cause my 2010 F4 has been with the local dealer since 2nd Sept last year waiting on MV UK and MV Italy to help them out with some electrics issues they havn't been able to fix under warrenty.  They seem to have made a little progress the last couple of weeks and are now aiming to get the bike back to me before the 1st March but we will see and I have little faith in them......   it is getting to the stage where we will be taking legal action if somthing isn't sorted soon.   The local dealer is getting little or not support from MV UK  or MV Italy  :(

@v2kiwi so what is your problem, there are lots of bikes out there that would appear to fit your needs but very few beautifull looking race and track focused bikes you can buy off the shelf.

Manufactures don't just focus on the sportsbike market and every single one of them makes a mix of models

Even MV have a nice line of commuter style bikes of various displacments with the Brutale range? and there are plenty other manufacturers to suite our diffrent budgets.  If it was as simple as finding a good, reliable, cheap bike that can do a bit of everything we would all be buying Kawasaki ER-6's *yawn*
