Jorge Lorenzo surprised at slow CRT pace

Former world champion Jorge Lorenzo is the latest high profile rider to express concerns about the huge gulf in lap times between the factory 1000cc prototypes and new CRT machinery. The Spaniard got his first experience of riding on track with the new CRT bikes during the first Sepang test in Malaysia earlier this month. The CRT machines are based on highly...

Blue Flags!!!

Best bulk buy some blue flags then!!! Yes bigger grid, but whats the point if they are not competetive!! Who would want to ride around 5 seconds slower a lap constantly moving over to be lapped by Stoner and Co!

Nostro - what has Lorenzo commenting on CRT test times (the first tests at that) have anything whatsoever to do with a comment made by Rossi?  The CRT bikes will improve and the times will get closer but top positions will probably only come as a result of (non CRT) riders retiring or crashing out.  This is the case in F1 too, where 'second rate' teams race with no real hope of winning but probably believe that sponsors will take note if they have the odd good result and then they may be able to move up the ranks.

ps. Just for the record as you obviously want to make some sort of statement, note that Rossi said "For me, now, Lorenzo and Stoner also ride better than me...." which means that he is either stating that they have surpassed his abilities, period, or that they are 'currently' better than him and that things might well change in the future. Either way, he's getting on and they are in their prime, so how can we make true comparisons, only by looking at what they achieve once they have retired?

Surprised?

He's just being diplomatic. It's obvious that a streetbike, albeit with a racing frame, has no hope against the prototypes. This will be even worse than when the twin 500's were running against the 4 bangers.

Yam and Honda go backwards with development they are twice as big and have the resources available unlike the tiny company known as Ducati.

Shame

Cant wait to watch stoner run away and lorenzo playing catch the whole season, why dont they run a time trial as thats all they base anything on anyway and do not race fairing to fairing like a little while back. Think I will stick to BSB more action in one lap than most of those top teams.

I'm not going to expect the CRT's to be any kind of match for the full prototypes until at least the end of the year/next year. The best I think we can expect for the most of 2012 is Randy DePuniet beating one of the sattelites on a bad day, or a bit of a mix up in mixed weather conditions.

Hopefully some rules will come into place that keeps the factories and narrows the gap of CRT's->Factories, possibly limiting what electronics can be used and a rev limiter?

CRT

Smoke and mirrors to hide that the series is shite with only 6 bikes on the grid - has any one asked - whats the point? - Put them all on supers with slicks - costs cut / sorted.
