Peak district routes

Hi!

Planning a ride out on Saturday (weather permitting) with a mate who's just passed his test. Would like to go to the Peak District but don't know the area very well. Can anyone recommend a good route? Or any good roads not to be missed?

Thanks:smile

Ride out

Thanks for the replies! The A537 looks a good road on the map. Also Britains most dangerous apparently? May be worth a look though!

Probably a silly question but something I've always wondered:
Average speed cameras always seem to face you as do some gatsos. How can they identify bikes when we don't have front number plates?

Cat 'n Fiddle

Was a great road two years ago.

Surface is seriously broken up from this winter's frost, worst surface damage I've ever seen, more like green laning - bring a dirt bike!

It has the new digital SPECS cams which are all linked.  Primarily rear facing to get your reg, I suspect the cameras on the other side would get a nice mugshot too.

A57 Snake Pass, A526 Woodhead Pass, A5012 Via Gellia, A515, A53, A54, A523, Ringinglow Road, Winnats Pass, Mam Torr, and countless Bs and unclassifieds all unmissable!

Today

Had a good day today! Only went on the A57 to Glossop and back in the end stopping for a bacon butty half way. Was a really nice road with some tight and some long sweeping bends. Unfortunately my mate had to be back by 1pm so didn't get much further. Was still a nice ride none the less.

Thanks for the tips on where to go. Will go further next time!:smile
