Valentino Rossi faces wait for Ducati improvements

Ducati has told Valentino Rossi a range of improvements for the radically revamped GP12 will not be ready in time for the start of the inaugural 1000cc MotoGP world championship in early April. The new GP12 1000cc machine might be a vast improvement on last year’s disastrous 800cc GP11, but Rossi made it clear in Sepang today that the latest Desmosedici...

No one's looking

Nothing escapes your eagle eye BHH. You must have fair bit of free time yourself. Pray tell, why does expansion seem like such a sin to you? It's not like there is wholesale deletions going on.

OK...

So MCN's front page headline back on the 8th of Feb was Rossi Returns - that was when he was further off the pace than he was at the same test a year earlier & hadn't even achieved the one goal he'd set himself. Now he's closer to the front than the last test & better than last year but all's doom & gloom & apparently Rossi's deflated... ? I can't wait to see Wednesday's headline... I'm sure it will cheer him up.

On the subject of not achieving his goal (the "within 1 second of the leader" one) why on earth did Rossi announce it before the end of the test? You just know that Stoner went out & said to his pit crew not to signal him in till he was over a second in front... Rossi looks like an idiot... simple! (that's if Rossi had actually got to within a second). Of course what Rossi should have done is say after the test "we were looking to be within a second & a half so 1.2 is not so bad... hopefully we do better next test"... which they did... goals fulfilled... everybody's happy. Unfortunately it's a trait that haunts him & JB... Stoner's not trying hard enough without having ridden the bike... 80 second fix before laying a spanner on it. I know the press demand their interviews but they really should learn to be a bit more cagey till after the event.

Intoning that Preziosi is stupid is literally that in itself.

Imagine the load he carries in a tiny effort such as Ducati are capable of putting together. He does not have the immense back up in terms of personell, design, development et al which are the norm by Honda and probably Yamaha. He's fighting an immense battle virtually alone and we should all tip our hats to his enlightened efforts, despite not all being successful. critique by all means, however, it must remain constructive to be of value. Whilst on this topic, don't lose sight of the fact that Kawasaki threw in the towel long ago and Suzuki too have now withdrawn from the fray bloodied and somewhat chastened, hopefully Ducati are made of sterner stuff and fight on, or do you wish a Honda series?
