Getting insured on a restricted bike?

Hey guys, I'v e not long passed my test and im looking to upgrade to something a bit bigger than a 125. I don't really want a 250 so i was looking at 400's and 600's.

I was checking out insurance quotes on a few bikes and they are turn out to be fairly cheap (for a 19 year old) But the problem comes when i mention that the bike would be fitted with a restricter to bring it to 33BHP.

A stock ZXR400 would cost me just £390 to insure but the second i mention a re stricter it shoots to £1200!!! SO my question is this: Is there a way i can still own a bigger restricted bike but not get raped by the insurance companies?

If not can anyone recommend any bikes which wont cost a bomb to insure.

Cheers guys and gals :)

My lad

went with La Parisienne through CIA - as far as they were concerned restriction made no difference to the cost, but he'd be uninsured if he didn't comply with his licence...  Not mad keen on CIA though.  Had similar scenario when de-restricting a moped, no difference to quote, through H&R Insurance if I remember rightly.
