Valentino Rossi deflated after Sepang test

Valentino Rossi struggled to hide his disappointment after he slipped to a bitterly disappointing 10th place on the timesheets at the conclusion of the second Sepang MotoGP test in Malaysia today. The Italian ended the rain-hit three-day test with a best time of 2.01.550 that left him 1.077s adrift of red-hot 2012 title favourite Casey Stoner. Although Rossi reduced the gap between...

Must be bewildering to Rossi

Back in the good ole two stroke days or even 990's a second was no big deal. But now with launch control and computer controlled machines ridden by a playstation generation it seems a 1/3 of a lap away. With the tyre technology and software modern bike GP lap times are a bit like scalectrics racing. Hopefully the new tyres will deteriorate significantly during races making things much more unpredictable and entertaining.... a bit like Philip Island last week actually where tyre degradation really played itself out. Maybe we are getting a little closer to the old 500's in some ways. Been a lot of highsides and injuries in both world series the past two seasons. I wouldn't wish it upon the toothy terror but all those who think Stoner will walk the title in 2012 should wind their necks in a bit as he isn't really that far ahead of the competition (much like Rossi in his prime) and he is just as susceptable to launching himself into orbit and collecting an injury like the others. Rossi may just be out of his depth as well as Ducati in the robot wars 2012.

Sorry......

Should have said Rossi "LOOKS" out of his depth and Ducati's best hope is to poach the software geeks from Honda that Honda poached from Yamaha........ hmmm wasn't that the last time Rossi actually was a factor in a race let alone a championship???

sad to see him reduced to this

It's sad to see him reduced to this.

I can see him walking away from Ducati after this season, the question is IF he does where can he go(?)

I don't think this season will go down well with the Italian public or the sponsors.
