UK to Italy

First up, may I introduce myself again, used to be on here a few years back, starting to rekindle my passion for biking, not least because it has been a while. (Just not had the time)

Anyway, I am looking to bring my R1 out to Italy, I am living in Varese for a few years (right on the Swiss Border) and am missing my bike too much so I am going to rescue it from the damp, dusty garage it is sitting in.

I have driven the route (norfolk to Varese) many times so I know what I am in for route wise, has anyone got any experience of sitting on an R1 for 10 hours??

Is anyone else looking to travel out here sometime this year?

Any advice and anyone want to tag along, give me a shout.

Touring on an R1

I think the guy you need to speak to is Nick Saunders - he took an R1 on one of his round the world trips. :smile

Long distance on an R1 is no problem providing you are in some sort of normal physical shape.

If you are worried about the distance and time in the saddle, why not break the trip down and have a stop on the route at a B&B or something. Chill out, relax and have a beer or two. You dont have to do it all in one hit.
