Ducati: Lease price limit means lower spec machinery

A 1m Euro (£830,000) cap on the cost of leasing a MotoGP bike in the future will make it impossible for Ducati to deliver the same high level of technology featured on its existing customer bikes. To ensure MotoGP is more affordable in the future for independent teams like Tech 3, Gresini, LCR and potential new entries, factories could be forced...

Translation...

"We want to be assured that non-factory machines will never beat or embarrass a factory machine (more importantly our sponsors)". MotoGP needs the factories and the factories need MotoGP. They will eventually get it worked out.

WORSE?

       That`s a bit of a worry,worse than the top spec`? Don`t bear thinking about.Where would that put a "private" Duke? With the CRTs I guess,just behind the Work`s Ducati`s.Why pay a mill` for that?

1M euro crossply and carbs.

I think Moto GP is about to disappear up it's own arse. Stop pissing around put a generic 1000cc 4 cylinder 4 stroke in a generic alloy frame and limit everything bore size, engine configuration, Rpm, fuel, tyre size, and not bother with evolution or new technology. Why have the pinnacle of motorcycle sport and send it backwards, if we learn anything from the past that the 990s were awsome 800s sucked 1000s are really looking promising but these new rules will damage the sport and spectacle and after all thats all it is. CRTs are not a bad thing but manufacturing bikes backwards to the CRTs level will drive the big manufacturers away then what will we have.

what?

,Preziosi said what? For the last 3+ years, the Sat spec Duc has been a career killing, "c" parts, unsortable, certifiable back marking POS which was/is never was capable of finishing within 20 seconds of the race winner. A top WSBK with a few illegal parts(err a CRT bike), which still cost 1/5 the price of a Sat Duc, would match it at most tracks.... And what, he's afraid that he couldn't provide "top" spec sat bike if the price was caped???

serve a winner to a customer at least once before using the words "top spec" please.

make them cheaper ?

Whats the confusion ? Ducati cannot make a gp winning machine or Rossi cannot ride a race winning ducati at any price ,so lift off the technology and let the economy catch it up ,we need close racing and much more of the f1 high tech mentality will mark the end of moto gp .HEADS OUT OF BACKSIDES TME before we become as viable as a football team

Greaty comment.

I still think the manufacturers should supply engines only and the teams build the rest... then its up to them how much they spend...

FOLLOW MY LEADER?

If your a private team owner and you manage to scrape the Euro`s together to run a squad,{ well done },surely your decision on what bike to lease, would be based on how good the result`s of said bike, have been? So wtf are any Duke`s doing on track?       Even the Work`s team is just there to make up the number`s, with a rider that has been on Coln Edwards level for year`s and another that can`t wait to reach him,1 tenth gap, epic.
