zzr 600 gear problem

Hi was wondering if anyone has any problem with the gears of a zzr600 the bike still goes into gear but the gear lever does not go back in place to make another gear change and if a change down the lever stays down. i have checked the  bolt at the base and is on tight any help with this would be great. (it feels like some spring has gone).

thanks

david

Gear Problem

I have not owned a ZZR but it sounds like a broken gear return-spring to me.

spring

Been on before, there is a return spring,as you say still can get the gears. It`s a cover removal (whatever) after draining the oil and you should see it.

Kawasaki ZZR 600 model? year?

It does sound like the return spring?but its a bit more involved than you may think. If you do the repair your self its a clutch removal job to get to the change shaft to check or replace the return spring you will need to check the gear shafts selector drum mechanism on the shaft as this to has its own return spring, and it could be that spring which is not working?.Good Luck

DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO??

hi really don't know what to do ordered in all the parts for the job and they came the other day, but the problem is that once a ordered the parts the problem got better now and it more like a sticking gear lever is this the same problem you think or a sign of something else (worse)?

perhaps the best thing to do is just to open it up and see?

any help would be great and thanks to all the replys :smile..
