Headlight Wiring

Hi. I,ve just brought a Suzuki Burgman 200 and want some advice on altering the headlights. At present the left hand side headlight operates the dip beam, and the right hand side headlight operates the main beam, as on many superbikes. I would like to know if its possible to change them to run both headlights on dip and main beam as it was on my bandit. Would it be legal, and would it cause any problems with the wiring. Many thanks Ginnelli.

It is possible to change them by joining together the shared feed wire to the dip switch wire and onto the relay heavy duty switch,if you do this you`ll have twice the current going through this feed wire when on full beam. Also you`ll have twice the current on the heavy duty wires feeding both lights on full beam.

The extra current will create more heat more so if in the same loom of wires.

Another thing to consider, is the alternator or charging system up to this proposed extra wattage.

You could ask a motorcycle sparky who knows your model, you may be lucky.

Have you considered them brighter bulbs?

Thanks Jaffa 90. Changing the bulbs would be the easiest option, I,ll check what bulbs are fitted and see what replacements are available.
