James Ellison’s 2012 MotoGP livery revealed

The Paul Bird Motorsport squad, which will run James Ellison in the 2012 MotoGP world championship, has shown off a patriotic red, white and blue livery in Jerez. Bird is determined to make his new MotoGP effort as much of a British effort as possible and the striking livery uses the colours of the Union Jack. The only major element of Bird’s...

Now Now

Theres a lesson here for all of us.... This is how you take an already ugly CRT bike, and give it a hideous paintjob... it looks like one of those fake motorbike toys from a toy shop !!!! I will of course be cheering on James E being British and all and more English riders should be encouraged to go to moto gp. But, I dont think Id invite any of Paul Birds designers round to give my bike a spray up...

The bike looks alright.

The crew look like Brits on the Costa and the bloke on the bike unfortunately won't be as fast as a Frenchman or even some bloke from Cov'. Bradley's hair would clash nicely with the paintjob on the bike but he'd make up for it by being faster. I'm pleased the team are there and all but can't see how having the wrong bloke on the bike will aid the quest for glory, ask Ducati.

For fucks sake lads. At least they're out there doing their best. Wait till after a few races and then gun them down if need be. Paint jobs don't half upset some folk.

Nationality restriction is interesting...

Why restrict to one nationality of rider in 2013 now?? Birdy has always been brilliant at picking talent, - Byrne, Sykes etc, so you can conclude that he thinks that we are spoilt for choice. Which is probably right. But he is also saying that if other nationaility riders come along with cash and sponsors he isn't interested. Not many team managers have that luxury at the moment.

Credentials

Using the order at lunchtime this is the list of confirmed riders competing in MotoGP in 2012 and these are their career credtials for being on the grid. Only listed are wins, podiums and titles acually achieved so if they raced a championship and didn't get a win, podium or title it won't be featured ie Ellison has raced in numerous championships but his only results are listed below.

There are quirks, Cal Crutchlow, Valentino Rossi & Colin Edwards. Crutchlow because he's surrounded by racers with a much better CV, Rossi because he appears to form the baseline and Edwards because obviously he should really be on an Aprilia as only RdP seems to be able to use it and between RdP and Barbera is a realistic place to aim at.

Jorge LORENZO MGP 17 wins 44 podiums 1 title, 250 17 wins 29 podiums 2 titles, 125 4 wins 29 podiums

Dani PEDROSA MGP 15W 56P, 250 15W 24P 2 titles, 125 8W 17P 1 title

Ben SPIES  MGP 1W 6P, WSB 14W 17P 1 title, AMA Superbike 28W 94P 3 titles

Casey STONER  MGP 33W 59P 2 titles, 250 5W 10P, 125 2W 10P

Nicky HAYDEN MGP 3W 28P 1 title, AMA unknown wins and podiums 2001-2 but 1 x title.

Cal CRUTCHLOW WSB 2W 7P, WSS 5W 5P 1 title,  BSB 0W 1P

Andrea DOVIZIOSO MGP 1W 16P, 250 4W 26P, 125 5W 15P 1 title

Alvaro BAUTISTA 250 8W 28P, 125 8W 18P 1 title

Stefan BRADL moto2 5W 12P 1 title, 125 2W 6P

Randy DE PUNIET MGP 0W 2P, 250 5W 22P

Hector BARBERA 250 4W 20P, 125 6W 12P

Valentino ROSSI, cough, 79W 138+1P 7 titles, 250 14W 21P 1 title, 125 12W 15P 1 title

Karel ABRAHAM Moto2 1W 2P

Franco BATTAINI 250 0W 7P

Aleix ESPARGARO moto2 0W 1P

Mattia PASINI 250 2W 9P, 125 8W 17P

Colin EDWARDS MGP 0W 12P, WSB 31W 75P 2 title

Michele PIRRO Moto2 1W 2P, WSS 1W 1P

Yonny HERNANDEZ

Ivan SILVA

James ELLISON BSB 6W 18P

There my friends are the CV's needed to be on the grid, forget the RS125 Cup's and sniffing at that elusive 5th once in WSB it's about podiums, wins and cups and some riders haven't achieved ANY and warrant a place on the grid, can someone explain this please?

Machines/Teams?

The MotoGp site seems pretty poor at filling the details on the CRT teams and what they are running.

So far I've gleaned...

NGM Mobile Forward - Suter/BMW

Power Electronics Aspar - ART

PBM - ART

Avintia - ?/Kawasaki

What about Came/Ioda and Speed Master?
