Casey Stoner: Hard to judge Ducati potential

Reigning MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner says it is difficult to gauge the potential of Ducati’s new factory GP12 ahead of the start of the new 1000cc era in Qatar next week. Ducati has rolled out a radically revised concept this season including a new engine position and conventional aluminium twin spar chassis to try and improve front-end performance with the...

Too diplomatic Casey

The potential of the GP12 is certainly greater than what any of their riders have been able to extract to date. For all we know it's every bit as good as the M1 or RCV.

Yes & no...

Stoner - "It is impossible to see what is going on and where is the level when there is different rider in the top position at every test and the gap is different from the front."

Pssst... you've been at the top in every test this year... & the Ducati has been about the same gap (OK, slightly worse at Jerez) for the last couple of tests. You can understand his position though... he doesn't wanna sound like a complete twat by mouthing off about a bike he's never ridden.

That's how you do it Casey

That's how you answer a question to as what is going on in someone else's garage. You don't shoot off at the mouth saying the rider isn't riding hard or that you could get it sorted in 80 seconds. You give some round about answer that can't be construed as to being disrespectful or putting your nose in someone else's business.

he's being patient

Why make any comment now?

Ducait are nowhere in their preparation for next year.  To get to Stoner in any race this year, Rossi will have to pass Lorenzo, Pedrosa, Spies, Dovi, Cal, Barbera....oh, and Hayden at Laguna and anywhere wet..

Did I miss anyone out?

Only time will tell

Wait for the first round and even a few races after that. Racing is a funny thing, anything can happen. Stoner looks strong but Rossi wont give up that easily.

Interesting article on speed.tv from the well respected Dennis Noyes. Considerably better reading than that biggoted old fart nostro..... Confusing your own opinion with everyone else's again, no doubt, eh?? I have an equation for you nostro. Casey 4th no quick Hondas, add 4 fast factory Honda's Rossi 7th, take one way Rossi sixth add the 3 back this year Casey 6th ... occam's razor...

Yes, it was a great advantage to stoner that he didn't have to beat himself.
(EDIT No doubt that both the 2010 and 2011 ducatis were evil and not championship capable in anyone's hands. Also not much doubt that stoner had something unique that let him get more out of 800 ducatis than others including rossi imo. This does not, also  imo, translate to stoner being superior on other bikes or mean stoner will have a career to match rossi's. )

Article

I read that article too hugelean, and I have to agree it was excellently written and with no bias toward any rider. It gave a great take on the way things are at duke and how they got to where they are without and rider bashing or hero worship. Well worth a look by all that comment on these posts, might help to throw some perspective on things, although some are beyond help and could not imagine constructive forum conversation with a balanced approach ... Have to say this was an excellent bit of diplomacy from Mr Stoner :P Perhaps some of his ardent followers might take a lesson from it ??? And yes, I know, before it begins.. some Rossi fans are just as bad ! Seriously though, search it out, great read.
