Loris Capirossi: Ducati need time they don’t have

Loris Capirossi reckons Valentino Rossi and Ducati need to be given more time to prove the new factory GP12 machine is the bike to put the Italian in a position to challenge Casey Stoner and Jorge Lorenzo’s domination of MotoGP. A radical new GP12 was scheduled to have only nine days on track ahead of this weekend’s first race in Qatar...

Bring back Bayliss!!!

Rossi has had enough time now to do something and once again it looks like he is going to do nothing!! Hayden doesn't seem much better either. Rossi has succeeded in fcuking up the Desmo, to a stage that it's almost a Yamaha and he still can't ride it. Bayliss is still quick and he doesn't moan, he just winds it open and gets on with it. Would love to see him making a comeback, even if it was only for a year. And as far as Ducati are concerned the sooner Flossi or is it Flopsi? goes the better. The bike has been f up big time. Ducati need to start calling the shots before it's all too late! Ciao

i can't imagine that Ducati has been sand-bagging over the winter.  i'd say that 2012 will be another season of development for the umpteenth incarnation of the GP12.  maybe they'll be getting on the pace later in the year, but i can't see any shock results this weekend.  a second off the pace is a big gap to make up in a short space of time.

noshow - in a perverse outcome of events, the failed monocoque concept on the GP bike might just turn up trumps on the Panigale.  it's a shame we won't see it in WSBK this season, but i can't wait to see how it goes in BSB.  assuming that the smokey Superquadro doesn't give any problems ....

yup, motogp is so expensive because of technology and it because of prototype bikes. WSBK is awesome so start to tell spies and crutchlow to go back to wsbk. Wsbk is awesome but a retirement series from gp riders. sorry off topic!

mr. loris

yeah, of course it's very difficult to tame REAL BEAST! cause you just starting to moaning just like your partner in that photo you took. anyway, you never tame real beast like stoner, even 1/10 of his skill. now you try to defend that so call 9 times ass LUCKY WC???

he change the bike from up to bottom, front to end but he still cann't tame it. now everybody goes to 1000cc exactly the same. but he started moaning and shaking like shit. blame other people, blame the machine, blame everything BUT HIM! sucks!

HE BETTER JUST RETIRE AND ANNOUNCE IT IN THE MIDDLE OF SEASON. SO BORassING

Eddy....

....get a grip man.  It's all Rossi's fucked up this, and Rossi has fucked up that.

Rossi hasn't fucked up the Ducati, the Ducati has been a pile of shit for many years, every rider has complained about it, and only one rider who has sat on the bloody thing has been able to ride around/over/though the bikes obvious handling woes.

Granted, during Rossi's tenure many many changes have been made to the Desmo, and none of them seems to have made the bike perform any better where it appears it's always been lacking.

You cannot knock the riding pedigree of Ducati's current or previous riders.  Stoner, Capirex, Melandri, Hayden, Rossi.  All previous world champs at GP level (some multiple times), yet none of them have been able to ride the thing how they want...with the exception of one man.

The focus should be on Ducati fixing a fundamentally broken motorcycle so that 99% of riders can ride it as Felipo intended, not maintaining a flawed design so that 1% of riders can ride it.

By all means, get Bayliss (or whoever) back on the bike to provide some proper feedback by testing it at or near the same level Rossi/Hayden ride at.  It's obvious to me that Franco and Vito don't ride it that hard in testing, or they would be experiencing the same problem as Rossi/Hayden.  Don't blame the racers, blame the test riders.  If they were riding it hard enough in testing the would find the same issues as the racers, and could hand the thing back at the end of the session and say to Felipo "you know what mate, it's still a pile of shit" and save everyone some time (and arguments on here, maybe!).

and motoking...

The Ducati is not a beast, it's a pig (and an ill-handling one at that).  It doesn't need taming, it needs taking outside and shooting.
