Test Ride Excess

Hi all,
Honda are doing test rides for there Big Weekend, I got a callback today as I'm interested but there is a massive £1000 excess if you have a spill.

Is this the norm?

Also do you know if there are companies that will insure that excess?  Will be my first time on a litre bike (been riding an SV650 for 4 years) and that excess figure does concern me.

when i last went for a test ride they gave me the keys and never said any thing about the insurance or the excess.

but hire places you can play to lower the excess a we bit. but you just have to hope you dont crash.

Look at it from your dealers (and their insurers) point of view

if YOU drop it, is it really fair for them to be picking up the tab for the damage?

Bear in mind (I'm assuming its a demo bike or similar) that another customer may be put off by a damaged demo (and thus buy elsewhere, or that a similar bike may not be easily available for other customers to try, with the same result (ie, potentially a lost sale).

Test Rides

£1000 excess seems high to me.  After all, do they want potential punters on thie bikes or not?

You'd think they'd offer a wavier fee as I'm unlikely to buy with that hanging over my head.
