Video: Foggy Petronas FP1 ridden on the road

The road-going Foggy Petronas FP1 looks like a well prepared Superbike and it's a case of the more you look, the more you see. It's all about the detail and this bike is blessed. The ultra clean and smooth body work still looks modern and enhances its beautiful styling and overall proportions. Every piece of the bodywork is carbon fibre and closer...

Buying and trying to run one of these bikes is a non-starter. Many parts would have to be custom made if they needed replacing. Good looking bike mind,,,

intriguing story

This is a relic of one of the biggest con-jobs in motorcycle racing history ... amazing that the team were able to race them for so long without the manufacturer ever actually making them available for public sale. Still, great to see one of the bikes in action. A pity Petronas have worked so hard to bury the whole affair.

Historic bike for one reason or another..

Wouldn't disagree with either of the previous comments. This bike is a historic white elephant and we're not likely to get many opportunities to see or hear one! Is there any more footage (with sound) of the bike being ridden? It would be lovely to hear being gassed ;-)

I was very pleased to see this story. I have a left side fairing from Chris Walkers Imola Foggy SP1 race bike hanging in my house as art. Still has all the dirt and gravel still on it from going into the gravel trap..I think in practice if I remember the story. All custom for sure and very light.  Glad to see and hear a road one in use!

lucky Livio ...

.... but how the hell did he get it?  i thought all of the UK-manufactured bikes were shipped to Malaysia and destroyed, or the majority of them were in a lock-up in Essex, depending on which rumour you believe.

the bike was never a success as it had a confused gestation, starting out as a MotoGP bike, then having the engine sleeved down to 899cc so it could race in WSB .... just as the four cylinder bikes went to 1000cc in 2003.  it never stood a chance with a capacity handicap against the twins and fours.  and i agree, it should never have been allowed to race in WSB in the first place as it was a prototype bike that was never sold to the public.  it has always been, however, a real looker of a bike, even after 10 years.

ps  i doubt Livio will have it for much longer if he keeps filling it with petrol with the engine running!!!!

I have to agree with all the comments previously posted.

As a bike though, what a missed opportunity and bundled effort, I still remember the Foggy workshop at Burton on Trent and the auction when it closed. IMO the bike looks amazing and the sound of the triple is savage, I love it. Even the toothpaste colour looks cool. If you had one and needed parts then you'd probably have to get them tailor made by specialists. I wonder if the drawings are available for the bike and all it's parts???

Probably one of the best white elephants....

The Legend is Back, MM1
Posted on June 30, 2012 by malaysianriders

It was about 10 years back when this particular machine was introduced to the world. It was created with a sole purpose in it’s design, it was meant to be the best in it’s field. But not everything turned out according to plan. Following a succession of failure and negativity in their involvement with motorsports, they were force to be drawn out from the global eyes entirely into a very long hiatus. That is until now, where it is back to join the exciting world of motorcycle.
