Didn't they have problems back in the 80s getting the rotary past the scrutineers? Had a look at the CAD drawing of the new engine, doesn't look exactly like an RSV 4 to me? Like an earlier post mentions; maybe they needed to take an existing, proven layout, and evolve? Just thoughts!
