Bike magazines

Hey!

Would like to start getting a bike mag each month but not sure which one? Theres loads of different ones and they all look good.

Which do you think is best and why?

Are there any that aren't that good?

Cheers

It depends heavily

on the content you're looking for.

A year-round road-rider on a budget might not be all that interested in the latest lap times on the latest umpteen-thousand-££, whizz-bang machine on sticky rubber hammering round a spacious track with no traffic.

On the other hand, a performance - orientated rider might not be interested in how to buy and run an ER6 on a budget.

I personally buy Ride and Bike, the content in them is more realistic for the type of riding I do.

mags

Go into a NEWSAGENTS. look at all the bike mags on the shelf (usually the top shelf, by the "Gentlemans sporting literature"), and see which one takes your fancy.
Once you've put the porn mag down, look at the BIKE mags.
Which front cover is best for you??
Rocket science it aint.

Which mag?

I like Ride. It's helping to wean me off Back Street Heroes, which I love, but is (apparently) not of much interest to most bikers.

I read BSH and American V primarily. MCS&L is my rag of choice to look beyond the custom world.

Bike is a decent read, but everything is so sportsbike sportsbike sportsbike. If you're only interested in the latest whizzbang and how everything in the known universe is inadaquate by comparison then its the read for you. For me, it gets a little wearing.

Ride is good for product and practical advise, especially for those starting out on two wheels and need to get all those kit and equipment purchases made.

Practical Sportsbikes is good for tech and nostalgia, especially if Classic bike is a step back in time too far.

Superbike suprised me with a very fair review of the Sportster 72; PB seems ok for extreme performance fantasies; FB seems a bit juvanile to me.
