If you keep ordering those, it's not the squidgy brakes slowing you down, it's the extra weight.

when they are in the calipers 0(besides it's not pink,it's magenta).I think stevedeejay must be spinning that bike of his up to 13,000 revs in every gear and doing burn outs all the time.:smile

Only just seen this thread Oldish,

so read through, obviously I knew you were back safe and well from your trip (sounds good one), looks like your pads have been ok....BUT....as Fuzzrr touched on most accurately, you took a big chance, pads bought in this country or Europe or America for that matter, either from dealers or via ebay, have been subjected to rigourous checks and tests when they are manufactured or bought in by the known companies. Their public liability cover would be worthless otherwise, audits are carried out in industry to ensure compliance with certain standards, materials have to be checked for composition, heat treatments, manufacturing processes, accuracy of dimensions, etc etc.

Traceability is one of the big buzzwords these days, whether talking about vehicle parts, foodstuffs or any manner of items and products. An accident investigator would look to all the possibilities of an incident, and who is liable, whether a brake pad could be traced back to an individual factory or not for instance, if it came from an accredited source or the paper trail stops, the idea being to prevent repeat occurences if there is a problem with something, and this applies to aircraft and ships and trains and other transport too, because cheaper and/or counterfeit parts are being used there too....anybody seen reports of the counterfeit Brembo mastercylinders and fake Pazzo levers causing dangerous problems? it was around different forums a while back.

Remember also the talk of EU legislation to prevent home mechanicing/changing of parts/anti-tampering? this is at least a part of the reason for the pressure being exerted to enact those laws.

So, Oldish, I'm pleased that it's been ok for you so far, but I'd certainly feel happier myself if you were to replace them with a known brand like Dunlopad, SBS, EBC, Ferodo, Brembo, or so on, with an unknown quantity like those, you could already have been close to the top end of their capabilities rather than having a good safety margin, ie. 90% instead of 50% take care Bud :smile
