Shot of oil down the plug hole. Front right corner of engine, carb hidden behind a cover. Remove to clean & also to gain access to innards of engine. Good look about with a torch, few squirts of oil if you can reach the crank etc. Turn it over slowly by hand a few times. Check the auto lube system works, (remove pipe from carb & check flow with throttle full open), turn over by hand a few times. If you're happy that every thing moves ok, stick the plug in & give it a few kicks.

Good luck.

Oh! Check the timing, needs to be spot on or it'll eat pistons.

Ow Wow...

Please excuse the nostalgia. I am very jealous...

Haynes used to do a manual for the GP100/125 which will be much better than the usual "Workshop manuals on disk". Its out of stock now (just checked on their website) but try eBay and Amazon....

Andy.

Hi graham

to turn over by hand, remove spark plug, engage first gear, turn back wheel.

Hi Graham

Check the main fuse, should be somewhere near battery in the Red lead I believe. You will get better results if you can locate a wiring diagram so that you can do a sysamatic check.

Also have a look in the first two threads on the 'Ask an Expert' boards, both are originated by our resiident Guru KCMC, you should get some good info from them. the one you need most is the Common Service and Repair thread.

Have you got any knowledge of wiring and do you have a test lamp, or a multimeter?

Then come back and we will attempt to assist you further.

Hope that helps you out for now/

My very first bike was a GP-100 - the "sports model" version at that, fully chromed and so on!  Wonderful little bike, red, I was very sorry to see her go eventually.   Good luck with it,  you should have loads of fun.
