Cal Crutchlow gets brake upgrade for Catalunya

Cal Crutchlow will race in this weekend’s Catalunya MotoGP round in Spain with the latest spec 2012 Brembo front brake calipers and pads having backed down on his refusal to buy them out of his pocket. Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team-mate Andrea Dovizioso is understood to have coughed up for the new brakes out of his own wages earlier this season,...

Good for Cal

Tech 3 employs Cal to ride a bike, that's it.  If he caved in to buying his own brakes then what's next?  Ask him to pay for his own tyres?  Fuel?  Airfare and hotel?  Once you cave in, the door is open and Tech 3 will just ask for more.  Cal is simply an employee.  Tech 3 needs to provide Cal with the best bike possible.  Sounds to me like the old brakes are a safety concern on the 1000.  Tech 3 should have found the money for the new brakes.  Got to be cheaper than buying a new bike that got smashed into a wall or a lawsuit for a dead rider riding on equipment known not to be up to the task.

Good point!! , but i dont know if this is tech3 refusing to buy the brakes or yamaha is putting in a blocker . Lets face it , if tech3 bikes start beating the factory bikes week in week out , yamaha are not going to be happy......are they.

x2 glider.

stoner has gone back to the old brakes- do you understand? Tech3 are not a factory team. They have a tight budget and two sets of brakes is a massive amount of money.
