Jorge Lorenzo wins home race at Catalunya

Jorge Lorenzo showed why Yamaha is so desperate to keep and why Honda might have to break the bank to sign him for 2013 after he claimed a third win of the season in his home race at Catalunya today. The Spaniard increased his lead in the world championship to 20-points after closest rival Casey Stoner could only finish fourth. Lorenzo brilliantly...

Yet again the Rossi fan club whigning about Stoner whigning it makes you as bad as him. I think that race has proven that Yamaha has built the best all rounder bike. Set the bike up right and stay on the track you can use a softer tyre and easily finish ahead that is a great advantage. Dani in my eyes will always be a no2 rider he has his day but they don't come around to often. Yamaha has a big job ahead of them Dovi or Cal? Although I like Spies he has not shown his worth on a factory bike and with the mistake of employing Smith you can not perform like that when Yamaha have so many good riders.

If Dovi gets the factory ride I'm sure Cal will get the Repsol seat the problem is whoever gets the Repsol ride will just be keeping it warm for Marquez unless they beat Pedro. And to the Rossi fan club , if you can be so critical on Stoner's performance you should back it up on Rossi's, because a year and a half and still  mid pack and two podiums is still a very bad position for a so called  development G.O.A.T

Spies

Race not won on the 1st or 2nd or 3rd lap. How I get fed up of hearing comments like that - what does that mean. Yes it can be and has beenso not true. Circumstances on any lap can determine whether someone wins a race.

He was slowed up by Pedrosa, clear enough to see. He has 3 other riders right up his chuff so what's he supposed to do, sit behind Pedrosa for a few more laps during which time he could get jumped from the riders behind?

He had to clear Pedrosa asap, it may have been possible to open a gap if Lorenzo and the others had taken a few laps to pass Pedrosa. Enough of a gap to have won the race? He had a good go, unfortunately ran wide. Not the only rider in history to do so and won't be the last. Lorenzo also ran wide when dicing with Pedrosa but was lucky to be on a part of the track where he could recover it. Nonetheless, he made a mistake and ran wide. Where are the comments that the race isn't won on the 7th or 8th lap (or whenever it was) and it was a rash move. Too much armchair analysis. You'll be having your white marker pens out next drawing on the TV screen to show your mates which lines they should be taking...

Another good performance from Lorenzo, looked beaten at one point but fought back and won comfortably. Rider and bike working very well together at the moment

As for the comments saying Crutchlow needs to learn to overtake. Are you seriously stating from the comfort of an armchair that you know how to race and overtake better than a world champion...??

Some great slow motion shots on the TV, and very interesting when they had the graphics comparing Lorenzo and Danni's brake and throttle positions. It clearly showed that the Yamaha is a better package as Lorenzo could get on the gas out of corners before Danni could even though he was behind him at the time.

On what basis is the Honda reputed to be the best bike out there? It has chatter problems, chews its tyres up and is no where as user friendly as far as I can see.

cal....

didn`t try it on with stoner.....probably because he couldn`t.....stoner is awesome on the brakes......so cal could either try and pass and take them both down, that wouldn`t look good for a factory ride next year woud it??????.....or follow and try and learn something from followoing the fastest guy on the earth for more or less the whole race....uuummm lets think

He said he was confused as to why everyone was burning up there soft tyre . Is that whinging? Stoner has said and done some stupid things but so has the rest of all the riders . I think Rossi and Stoner are the two main culprits oh and Pedrosa when he does a test but. The reason why is because they are the ones the media want to interorgate and are always in the limelight. Who has ever seen a 7th place rider  get so many articles before. But yet every week bloodbubble you ride every article about Stoner he got a fourth and had a bad day Rossi got a 7th and that was a good day ? If you want to criticise one criticise all.

Bruce those graphics could show that the Yamaha is the better package or they could show that Lorenzo is the better rider. That's the thing, the better bike would allow the rider to get on the throttle earlier, but the better rider would be able to get on the throttle sooner. Or maybe it could tell you that Lorenzo had the better setup on the day. The graphics alone tell you nothing really. They just add a little interest. You need much more information to draw conclusions. Of course which view you take depends upon your loyalty. If you are a fan of Lorenzo they obviously you'll take the better rider view. If OTOH you favour Stoner or Pedrosa then it's the better bike view for you. And if you're a Honda fan then it's better rider. If Yamaha is your bike then it's better bike.

He was held up by Pedrosa was he? Yeah and everybody said Cal was held up by Stoner until he pissed off into the distance. Spies mistake was a huge one and not one you would expect of a rider of his experience. He went in way too hot and made his own mistake with no help from anybody else and then compounded the error by trying to turn hard on the grass. Watch the way Lorenzo dealt with Pedrosa and you'll see a much more mature rider. Your claim that other riders could have jumped them doesn't really hold much water does it? Look at the final result. The mature thing to do would have been to hang around looking for a good place to make a move rather than making a rookie error. FFS he's been racing for nearly twenty years and he admits himself he made a stupid error. Stop making excuses for him.

Just what had gone through my mind as well but it's pointless trying to reason with bultoboy because he is never wrong.
