Poll: Has the price of petrol changed how you ride?

The AA have a depressing spreadsheet showing the price of petrol for every year since 1896 (http://bit.ly/LkFK6D). It got us reminiscing about the days when you could fill an average bike up for a tenner (pre-1994) as opposed to the £25 or so it costs today. So… pollcomment

It hasn't changed my riding..

..but has changed my driving some. I consolidate trips more and generally conserve more when driving any of the cars.

i stopped driving and just ride becosue of the price of fuel

becouse of the price of fuel and the price of insurance i have stoped using a car and just run my bike as it will cost only 25ish for 21l tank so the money i save save from not having a car goes on other stuff

Changed how I ride? It's the reason!

I got into bikes 3 years ago as the price of fuel started it's ever increasing spiral of lunacy. Unlike most people the thought of going from my daily driver (an R33 Skyline) to a diesel was just completely untenable. If I wanted a tractor I would buy a farm.

Anyway, my bike does twice the MPG of my car, parking is free, road tax and insurance are less than half.. And my bike is quicker as well.

I'm eagerly watching the electric bike progress, because for my daily commute an electric bike would be perfect. I would still have another bike for the long haul though, at least until technology catches up with ambition!

Echo cdlacey. Changed from a supercharged Celica 2 years ago to save cost without compromising performance.Loving the change, especially the ability to filter.

Scooter

Price of petrol directly responsible for me riding a 125cc scooter.

Weirdly it's a lot more fun to ride than I thought it would be.
