importing from usa

i'm looking to buy a full Yoshimura rs2 exhaust system to fit a 2008 Suzuki drz 400sm, i can't for the life of me find a stockist in the uk, i have seen them on e-bay from the usa at £287.00 plus £61 postage.

Has anyone bought goods from America how much import duty did you pay ? and what do you think i should expect to pay on the exhaust system ? any ways to swerve heavy taxation :winkie:

thank you

I bought

a two brother exhaust system  from the USA, via ebay.

Nowt to it , just like buying from a seller from the uk, ..thats the beauty of ebay.

I've bought items from China, Canada, USA,....just pay via paypal, and wait little bit longer.

real easy:smile

Importing

The duty rate for motorcycle parts is 3.7% and is paid on the value of the part plus the shipping costs.  You will then pay VAT at 20% on the full built up cost.  Therefore, based on your figures, the duty/VAT calculation is as follows;

Exhaust Value = £287.00 + postage of £61 give you a dutiable value of £348.  Duty @ 3.7% = £12.88.  VAT value =  £360.88 making the VAT £72.18.

The taxes and duties you wil pay on importing the exhaust will total £85.06

unless

shipper will put commercial value as less than 18 gbp / send as gift. Then you will have nothing to pay.
