Tubes in tubeless tyres

plugging tyre punctures compromises their integrity.

Apparently for touring a better option is putting in an inner tube.

Any experience?

innertubes

are ok to use providing the tyre inner wall is smooth and the rim inside is also smooth, some tubeless tyres have (radial) ridges inside and some tubeless rims are not finished smooth inside.

I myself would never fit an innertube because your changing the flexibility of the tyre.

I`ve had vulcanised mushroom plugs fitted from the inside without any problems.

Puncture Repairs

Each puncture is different.  Take the advice of the guy that's repairing it.  If the repair would not be sound then he is unlikely to agree to do it.

Puncture repairs are fine. As are tubes in tubeless tyres.

i've had proper done puncture repairs and had no problems. You can put tubeless tyres on tube type rims but you still need a tube in them. Tyre companies say you cant put a tube in a tubeless tyre on a tubeless rim. I have asked that one before! The tube chafes and gets overheated plus the hole for the valve on a tubeless rim is bigger so it all gets a bit messy

I've

used innertubes in my tyres for years due to spokes.

The damage to the tyre by a puncture is not going to be mitigated by a tube if that's what you're thinking.

Best bet for punctures is puncturesafe or similar.

Repair

I was thinking tyre repair

If the tyre gets punctured its apparently easier to replace an inner tube.

Repair

yeh but don't you still have to plug the hole in the tyre as the structure of the tyre is weaker if its got a hole in it thats not ment to be there?
