Honda to roll out production MotoGP racer in 2014

Honda will sell a production version of its current 1000cc prototype RC213V machine for the 2014 MotoGP world championship. The bike is currently under development in Japan and MCN understands it will be sold to non-factory teams for a maximum of 1m Euros (£800,000). The new machine isn't expected to run to current CRT regulations and therefore will be subject to current...

Could well end up even more Honda than Moto 2 is. Wow....1st Sky and now this. Thank goodness there is still WSB and BSB.

You obviously have gripe with Honda. A move such as this can only add to the 'close racing' that you desire so what's the problem bud?

As 'chris' points out, 2 other manufacturers have said they can equally do a similar deal and there are others to follow. There will always be only 2or3 riders in with a shout for the title (in any sport) but this has to be good news for this sport 'overall'.

It helped Spies into WSBK the other way round there were teams like Scot Honda and Gresini who were interested in giving Ben a chance but he rejected them offers which left Yamaha Italia WSBK looking for a replacement for Haga and who did they chose Ben Spies a gamble which ultamately paid off in one attempt.

After what I read in mcn today about limiting engine revs, control ecu, same make brakes, ,if the recession doesn't kill off moto gp then this senseless shit will,Honda wanted four strokes, they got it, they wanted 800,s they got it,espolita wanted 1000,s again so it's 1000,s again, between the 2 of them theres been more damage done in 10 years than ion the entire history of grand pix motorcycle racing,by 2017 moto gp wil be consigned to the history books

These factory prototypes have always proven to be a false dawn for the privateers, the Honda NSR500V twins were hopelessly uncompetitive,Barros's bike was as close to a works twin you could get,so would be only there to place infront of the CRT bikes, maybe. The last truly over the counter racer to be competitive in the premier class was the RG500 & everyone & his grandma could get one of them, these Hondas are still ludicrously expensive & to me are the last effort by Honda, who have wrecked GP racing singlhandedly,to prop up a series that is already on a lifesupport machine.
