Speeding safely

In this weeks' MCN, Mark Edwards says all police riders (or ex police riders) speed once they get to 60/70mph zones, if the road and conditions are safe. But if Joe Public was seen riding at 100mph, wouldn't he or she be pulled over straight away, regardless of riding conditions?

"ALL" Police riders?

It sounds like a bit of a generalist statement (that said, I haven't seen the article).

There's also the question of a rider "speeding" (being over the limit) and "riding at 100mph". There's also the fact that a Police rider will mostly have constant training throughout their time, will be out all year round, and will cover a far higher mileage on a bike than Joe Bloggs will.

appropriate

you need to understand the difference between the speed limit and the appropriate speed for the circumstances.

100mph is unlikely to ever be appropriate.

Police riders do have certain exemptions but they are not exempt from prosecution just like you and i

the police don't seem to care about speeding (unless extreme), you might even be corageous enough to overtake a police car.

also, speed cameras take a photo of the front of the vehicle so bikes can't be identified.

I love it here. I don't read the signs, only ride what is safe considdering the conditions.
